Hi guys, for three years now, Montrealers have been greated by the presence of the ADAPT conference. During 3 days top 2D, 3D, SFX, games, movies gurus come in Montreal to give cenferences and show their latest work. Hi guys, just a quick update. My personal website (www.ilovehue.net) is now up-to-date. I have uploaded a lot of clip I worked on in the past years. Nothing new for the one who went on the old website but still, it's going in the right direction. Most of the 2D is done in MOTION. The low-fi 3D is done with Zaxwerk softwares and the editing work is done in Final Cut. My resume will get updated soon. Shamelessly propoting himself, Mathieu Marano

Hi guys. By now, if you pretend to work in video or film production, you should have heard of the RED ONE camera. In a nutshell, it's a video camera that shoots 4K RAW (like in photo RAW), up to 120 fps, is 35mm lenses compatible, tapeless and upgradable...for less than 16000$. So it is likely that someone will come to you in a near future with RED footage on a hard drive to edit a videoclip or a short. You got to get ready for it. To get some RED footage, you can call your local camera rental…

Hi guys, you know I love ProVideoCoalition.com..but you also know that I'm the administrator of Finalcutmtl.org the Final Cut User Group of Montreal. Over here, in cold and white Canada we don't have much to do but edit video and prepare events and invite product designers to talk about their products. That is why we have a great video podcast feed with tons of interviews, product reviews and demos. We just finished the editing on our post-NAB conference. 3 hours of podcasts are available for th…

Motu who was long known for its audio interfaces has jump in the video bandwagon a little more than a year ago with the V3HD, a firewire attached input/output video capture card for Final Cut and Premiere. The V3HD was limited to DVCPRO HD but the new V4HD now works with the Apple ProRes codec and DVCPRO HD. This makes it a great alternative to the AJA Io HD. All connectors are available on the V4HD: composite, component, sdi, HD-SDI, HDMI, AES, Wordclock, genlock, timecode and optical, digital…

It's highly likely that you've heard of Digg. In fact, we have a Digg button on most articles, and have been "dugg" numerous times in our illustrious first 42 days of being online.
The code monkeys here at PVC (namely me), have been working feverishly to bring a Digg-like clone to the professional video market. Let's face it, as valuable as Digg is, it's really for the general consumer m…

With february come and gone as far as Avid's "announcments", the rumor mill has been going into overtime. Here is what I've heard: 1. Avid is buying Final Cut Pro 2. Avid is buying AJA 3. Avid is making a Mojo HD 4. Apple is buying Avid (old) 5. Adobe is buying them all (laughable) Anyone got any predictions about how this will "actually" play out? I normally pay no mind to the rumor mill but it's fun to speculate.

Well the madness is pretty much come to an end. And we are back to business as usual (albeit a little tighter than normal). I've had many of my students ask me how it would affect them as far as job opportunities and I always gave the same answer. It doesn't. Our interview numbers went way up. At my school, I help prepare our students for the real job world that you and I have grown accustomed to working in. In post, I have been working for the past ten years. In entertainment, the past fiftee…

What makes ProVideo Coalition different than all of the rest of the sites catering to the video market? For one, we've collected a remarkable set of "Founders". The founding editors come with an amazing history writing for some of the biggest magazines/websites and are deeply involved in the market. Secondly, ProVideo Coalition shares an amazing 40% of the advertising revenue with the writers. Yeah, read that again.... That's how we can attract the best writers in the industry. Typical best prac…
